50 Tudor Coupe
This is probably the vehicle that will need the most work, though it
had been started to be restored. The car was primered with gray when I
got it, though some of the body repair had already started to fall out.
Most of the chrome trim was either in the front seat, back seat, or
trunk when I picked it up.
The glass was all in good shape, so I removed it right away to prevent
damage. The interior had been redone at some point with non standard
items, including the bright red and white heavy cord seat covers shown
on the floor under the lift, and on the back of the seat on the floor.
A carpet was used for the side panels and the floor. They had already
started to disintegrate, as did the cardboard backing.
At this point I have removed all interior items, including the seats,
door panels, floor mats, etc., and have started to clean the metal to
determine what will need to be repaired or replaced due to rust ants.
The engine had been overhauled, and I was told that a high lift cam and
adjustable lifters were installed. The engine is clean and appears to
have been painted during the overhaul, and not run much since, as
the heads are still bright.
This also has the original overdrive unit installed, and all running
gear seems to be in good shape and I have not found anything missing or
damaged.
During the cleanup and starting to take the primer off and clean the
metal, I have found that the original paint is under a very heavy
undercoating on the firewall, and some of the door interiors. It is
called 'Hawthorne Green' and matches the serial number decoding for the
car. It is a very deep emerald green color and the car will probably be
restored to that color.
