This is the first car I obtained. It had been sitting alongside the
road in Big Sandy, MT for most of the winter. It then sat in my yard
for almost 6 years before I got my present 40'x60' shop put up so
I could work on it.
I am doing the most work on this car at the present time. I have
removed all sheet metal back to the firewall, removed the engine and
transmission, and all front suspension. The items removed have been
media blasted with glass beads to remove any rust and dirt, any parts
replaced if necessary, painted black and re-assembled as much as
possible, and made ready to return to the car after the body has been
removed from the frame, and the frame has been completely cleaned and
reconditioned.
I will then start on the body work and the car will be repainted to the
original two tone paint. This is the original colors and I have found
that this was done at the selling dealer when the vehicle was
purchased. I have found that this was an option that the customer could
purchase the paint for $5 and the car would be shipped with two colors of paint,
one shade lighter, and one shade darker than the paint on the car. It
was then up to the dealer and the customer to decide on how to paint
the car. This car was originally "Palisade Green" as can be seen in the
picture, and by the serial number. The added paint can also be seen, as
the fading occurred through all coats to the brown primer and in some spots, bare metal. The middle shade
of all coats is also the color of the door posts and the firewall.
